Render repairs in Doncaster
Cracked, hollow or missing render repaired properly, with the cause fixed so the problem stays fixed.
What we repair
Cracks
From hairlines to open cracks, often starting at window corners.
Hollow render
Patches that sound drummy, bulge or have started to fall.
Missing sections
Areas already lost, often on gables and chimney stacks.
Damp walls
Rain getting in through failed render on exposed walls.
Window and door edges
Broken reveals left after new windows or doors went in.
Staining
Green and black streaks on shaded walls or under leaking gutters.
Find the cause first
Render does not fail for no reason. If the reason is not dealt with, the repair goes the same way.
- Water from a gutter or downpipe running down the wall
- Render taken down to the ground, soaking up water
- No mesh at window corners
- Hard cement on a soft old wall
- No movement joint where new work meets old
- Old ground movement from mining
If the real fix needs a roofer, a plumber or an engineer, we will tell you.

Repair or re-render?
We tap the whole wall and mark the hollow areas so you can see them.
If the damage is in one or two places and the rest is sound, a repair makes sense. If a big part of the wall sounds hollow, roughly a third or more, patching costs nearly as much as starting again and leaves a wall full of joins. Where it is close, we price both and you decide.

Repair questions
Can cracks just be filled?
Fine cracks in sound render sometimes can. Wider cracks usually mean water is getting behind or the wall is moving, and filler alone will not last. We find the cause first.
Why does my render sound hollow?
That area has come away from the wall. It may hang on or drop in the next frost. We cut it back to solid render and re-render it.
Will the repair show?
On painted render it blends in once repainted. On coloured render the old wall has weathered, so a patch may show. If so, we tell you and price the whole wall too.
Could the cracks be from old mine workings?
In some parts of the area, yes. Old movement that has stopped can be rendered over with the right system. Cracks that are still widening, especially stepped ones through brickwork, need a structural engineer to look first.
Should repairs on an old wall be done in cement?
Not on old solid stone or soft brick. Cement traps moisture in those walls and often causes the failure in the first place. Lime is the right repair material there.
Describe the damage
Where is it, and how long has it been like that?
Cracked or loose render?
Call and describe it. If it sounds urgent, we will tell you.
