Rendering in Doncaster
New render, repairs and pebbledash covering for houses across Doncaster, from Hyde Park terraces to Bessacarr semis and the villages out to Thorne, Tickhill and Conisbrough.
What we do
Rendering is our only trade.
01House rendering
Whole houses, fronts, backs, gable ends, extensions and garden buildings, in silicone, monocouche, sand and cement or lime.
About rendering
02Render repairs
Cracked, hollow or missing render fixed, with the cause found so it does not come back.
About repairs
03Over pebbledash
Old pebbledash covered with a smooth modern finish, usually without stripping the wall.
About pebbledashFlat land, open skies, driven rain
Doncaster has few hills to shelter its houses, especially out east towards Thorne and Hatfield. Rain and wind come straight across the fields and hit gable ends hard. Render that looks good on day one has to keep that out for years, and that comes down to detail.
- A bead along the base of the wall, kept clear of the ground
- Drips over windows and doors so water falls clear of the face
- Mesh through the whole base coat, with extra at every window corner
- Sills checked so they still project past the new, thicker wall
- Joints sealed around frames, pipes and vents
- A water-shedding top coat that stays cleaner for longer

Houses we work on
Victorian terraces
Hyde Park, Hexthorpe and Balby. Rear offshots and end gables are where render helps most.
Interwar semis
Wheatley Hills, Intake and Bessacarr, many still in tired roughcast or pebbledash.
Pit village housing
Edlington, Rossington, Armthorpe, Bentley and Moorends. Often some old movement to allow for.
Newer houses
Extensions and new builds in blockwork, which need full mesh and movement beads.

Common questions
How much does rendering cost in Doncaster?
We price after we have seen the house, because wall size, height, what is on there now and the render system all change the figure. You get one written price with scaffold included.
If something turns up during the job that could not be seen at the visit, we show you and agree it before going further.
Our house is in an old pit village and has cracks. Can it be rendered?
Many houses around Doncaster sit on old coal workings and have moved at some point. If the movement has stopped, a meshed render with movement joints in the right places handles it well. If cracks are still opening, a structural engineer should look first, and we will tell you if we think that is the case.
Do I need planning permission to render?
For most houses outside a conservation area, usually not. Listed buildings always need consent. Towns like Bawtry and Tickhill have conservation areas, so check with City of Doncaster Council planning if you are in one.
Our house is very exposed. Does that change anything?
Yes. Much of the land east of Doncaster is flat and open, and wind drives rain hard at gable ends. We allow for that with a water-shedding finish, proper drip details over openings and a bead at the base kept clear of the ground.
How long will it take?
A terraced front or a gable end is usually a few days of rendering. A whole semi is typically a week to ten days with scaffold. Weather can move things. Your quote gives expected dates.
Can you match the house next door?
Usually, yes. Show us the house and we will bring sample boards to match the colour and texture.
Do you tidy up?
Yes. We cover windows, doors, paths and plants before starting, tidy every day, and leave the site clean when the scaffold comes down.
